🌟 President’s Cup – A Night to Remember

Friday night at Eltham Rugby Club was nothing short of spectacular as we hosted the inaugural President’s Cup under the lights. The evening had it all – dazzling light and smoke displays, a buzzing crowd, and a true celebration of rugby at every level.

Rugby at the heart of the night

The juniors kicked things off with a fun touch rugby game featuring our U10s and U11s, followed by our GIR players taking on their coaches in a skills showcase that had the crowd cheering. The U12 match between Eltham and Northern, which included a blend of players from Northern, Eltham, and Maroondah, was a highlight – showing that at the heart of our game, we put rugby first and teams second. This spirit of collaboration is what will keep juniors coming to the game for years to come.

Entertainment and atmosphere

Adding to the magic of the evening, we were treated to a fantastic performance from Elite Dance Studio in Eltham – thank you for your wonderful collaboration! The crowd was wowed by Blaso Pyrotechnics, who lit up the night with brilliant light and smoke displays. Meanwhile, the BBQ sizzled all night long, and families soaked up the atmosphere as the first-ever President’s Cup trophies and medals were awarded.

A special thank you also goes to the Diamond Valley Trophy Centre for generously providing the medals. The owner not only came down with her family to enjoy the event but chose to donate them as a way of giving back to the club – a gesture that made the evening even more special.

Acknowledgements

A huge thank you goes to Izy and Rob Sprackman, who were the brains behind the event and Izy also kept the energy high as MC throughout the night.

A note of care and community

Unfortunately, one of the U12 players was injured during the match. We’re pleased to confirm he is now home and recovering well. His parent reached out afterwards to express their gratitude to the coaches and parents who stepped in with care and compassion, describing our community as one to be truly proud of.

The President’s Cup 2025 will be remembered not only for the rugby, entertainment, and atmosphere, but for the incredible support, generosity, and community spirit that shone through on the night. ❤️🖤💛
