This is who we are
Eltham Rugby Union Football Club has a proud history dating back to 1970, when we were founded as Yarra Valley Rugby Union Football Club with support from the local council and the Victorian Rugby Union (now Rugby Victoria). In 1977, the club was officially renamed Eltham Rugby Union Football Club Inc., and we’ve been growing ever since.
Over more than 50 years, Eltham Rugby has built a record of on-field success across both senior and junior competitions. Our titles include premierships in 1980, 1986 (U14), 1987 (U12), 1988 (U14), 1990, 1992, 1994, 2000, 2007, 2010, 2014, back-to-back premierships in 2018 and 2019, and — most recently — the 2025 Conference Championship. Those pennants hang proudly on the walls of our clubhouse, a reminder of what this community has built together.
We are a club where players of all ages and backgrounds come to enjoy rugby, develop lifelong friendships, and be part of something bigger than themselves. Our junior programme runs from Get Into Rugby (Under 7s) through to Under 18s, and our senior side competes in the Victorian Premiership competition. We’re also growing our girls and women’s programme, with new players always welcome.
Our values — Passion, Integrity, Discipline, Respect, and Teamwork — shape everything we do, on and off the field.
Eltham Rugby is entirely volunteer-run. Our elected Management Committee oversees the club’s governance and operations, and every week parents, players, coaches, and supporters pitch in to keep things running — from coaching and team management to BBQs, field set-up, and canteen shifts. If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you.
