What a battle! In a nail-biting semi-final clash, our Eltham Seniors came out on top with a 28โ24 victory over Ballarat.
Eltham hit the ground running in a thrilling clash against Ballarat, stamping their authority early with powerful ball carries, slick execution, and relentless pressure. Dominating both possession and territory, carving out opportunities and converting them into valuable points. By halftime, Eltham had built a well-earned lead, heading into the sheds on top of the scoreboard.
However, the second half told a different story. A series of penalties and four yellow cards across the match began to tilt the momentum. Ballaratโs forwards dug deep, applying sustained pressure through well-structured phases and strong set-piece play. As the minutes ticked away, Ballarat clawed their way back into contention, closing the gap and forcing Eltham onto the back foot.
But when it mattered most, Eltham showed their grit. With the game in the balance and Ballarat surging, the teamโs defensive resolve and composure under pressure stood tall. Every tackle counted, every player dug deep for their mates, and together they held the line.
In the end, Elthamโs early dominance and never-say-die spirit proved enough to seal a nail-biting 28โ24 victory. A hard-fought win and a reminder that while skill builds a lead, heart and teamwork protect it.ย For Eltham, Robbie Hausegger scored two tries, while Max Delai and Eliah James scored one each. Four conversions by Robbie proved critical in giving Eltham a winning margin.
Now itโs all eyes on the Grand Final next weekend. Time to re-group, reset, and come back even stronger as we chase premiership glory!
