Theo Trollip is one of Eltham Rugby’s newest coaches — and already one of its most enthusiastic.
Theo’s rugby journey started young, but after a long break from the game, he found his way back to the sideline in Mildura in 2024. A friend’s invitation to help with coaching reignited his passion — and once he started, he couldn’t stop. He went on to help build the new Mildura team from the ground up, developing his coaching skills along the way.
When Theo and his family made the move to Melbourne, continuing that journey was non-negotiable. He arrived at Eltham Rugby having heard one thing from everyone he spoke to: that this was a club full of genuinely great people. A few sessions in, he’s already convinced.
“My first couple of sessions have been an absolute blast — I am convinced I have found the friendliest people in Victoria.”
As our Senior Backs Coach, Theo’s approach is straightforward: work hard, play even harder, and make sure everyone is having fun doing it. His coaching style? Innovative — he’s here to keep things fresh and bring new ideas to the backline.
Away from the training paddock, Theo has some rugby stories worth hearing. A tour with Pretoria Rugby Club that took him across South Africa — including one memorable night when the team couldn’t find accommodation and ended up sleeping in an army barracks — is the kind of experience that sticks with you.
Welcome to Eltham, Theo. We’re glad you found us. 🖤💛
