Thank you to Life Members Tim Adams and Alan Steel for again converting our rectangle of ground to a rugby pitch. This is one of those many unseen jobs at the club that no one thinks about unless of course the chalk line is less than perfect. This time-consuming effort was motivated by visits from Melbourne Unicorns led by our former club coach Greg Coward, a Fitzroy Girls Footy Academy session and of course our own “Come and Try” evening.
Melbourne Unicorns only have seasonal access (cricket) to their facilities so were very appreciative of a training session at Bridge Street. Our management committee also ensured that our Dewar Shield visitors were fed and watered after their exercise.
We had a few new recruits at last Wednesday night’s “Come and Try”. Sincere thanks to our junior team volunteers for making the new recruits welcome. Sylvia Metcalfe pushed publicity for the evening, Louise Howden ran between new families, coaching and the BBQ. Tim Adams and Russ Dunn smoothly managed the bar and enquiries from new families.
