Off-Season Comedy at Eltham Rugby Club

On a balmy spring evening last Saturday, Eltham Rugby Club hosted an evening of comedy featuring local and international comedians, and marking the comedy debut of Scotty Thompson, son of the late John Thompson, Life Member and club legend. A packed clubhouse enjoyed a comedy warm-up from some well-known comedians on the Melbourne scene before Scotty entertained the audience with very amusing anecdotes, both embarrassing and painful, from a life well-lived, the challenges of being woke, and being single at the age of 45 with a β€œdad bod” and a facial profile that, let’s be honest, would not be out of place in a police lineup! It was a great evening, with many family and friends in attendance. Hopefully, it will herald the start of Scotty’s new career in comedy and will be the forerunner of other such events for the club in the rugby off-season. A big thanks to everyone who helped set up the club for the event and for packing up after, and to Committee member Shane Slater, who at short notice spent the evening behind the bar serving a very thirsty crowd!
