A great contest and a brilliant team effort from the U12s.
Racing got the early jump, but Eltham stayed in the fight with some outstanding defence. Alex set the tone with a try-saving chase-down tackle and a big hit on the sideline, while Max also pulled off multiple try-saving efforts. At halftime, Eltham trailed 12–21 after a strong try and conversion from Orin.
The second half was all Eltham. A dominant forward push saw Josh score, before Max ran three-quarters of the field to give Eltham the lead at 26–21. Racing managed to level it late at 26–26, but the momentum shift showed what this team is capable of.
Player of the Match: Max McGarry
An outstanding performance, especially in defence, backed up by a brilliant long-range try. His effort was also recognised by the referee.
Strong signs across the park, with the backs looking sharp and the forwards lifting, particularly Ethan at the rucks.
A fantastic game and plenty to build on.
