Lion Fever hits Eltham

Over the past few weeks, Lion fever truly hit Eltham, with our players and families showing up in force to witness the epic Lions v Wallabies series — including the series-deciding clash at the MCG in front of 90,000 fans.

Four of our youngest club members had experiences they’ll never forget:

Daithí Loughlin had the honour of running out alongside Wallabies #16 Billy Pollard, proudly representing Eltham Rugby as he stepped onto the field under the lights of the MCG.

Levi Sadza (U8s) participated in the pre-match drills, soaking up the electric atmosphere and getting a taste of what it’s like on rugby’s biggest stage.

Cillian and William Sheridan also took part in pre-match drills earlier in the week when the Lions faced the First Nations & Pasifika XV at Marvel Stadium, representing Eltham with pride and energy.

It was especially fun seeing Eltham families and teammates cheering passionately from both sides of the rivalry. We loved the banter, but even more, we loved seeing 90,000 people watching rugby live in Melbourne.

The Wallabies fell just short in a thrilling match at the MCG, going down 29–26 to the British & Irish Lions. The series ended in a 2–1 series win for the Lions, but the Wallabies showed plenty of fight and flair throughout. It was a hard-fought contest from start to finish, and a great reminder that Wallaby pride runs deep — especially with our local juniors looking on.

Whether you were in the stands, on the couch, or down on the turf, we hope your family enjoyed this incredible celebration of international rugby.
