And That’s a Season

What a season.

Two Eltham junior teams in Grand Finals on the same Saturday, on the same windswept ground. A third within four points of joining them.

Nobody would have written that script in April.

As Tim put it after the semi-finals: “Cannot remember the last time the club had two junior teams playing in GFs in the one season. Awesome effort by players, team officials and supporters.”

And it wasn’t only the results. Our U8s came together at the eleventh hour — a team that almost didn’t exist this year, pulled together late and thrown straight into the season. They turned up week after week, shared players with opposition sides who were short, and grew into one of the best things about our 2026. We could not be prouder of them.

Get Into Rugby kept growing too. More little ones on the field every week, more families through the gate, more first tries and first tackles. That is where the next U12s and U14s come from.

None of it happened on its own. It happened because coaches turned up on Tuesday and Thursday nights all winter. Because managers chased team lists and ID checks and player photos. Because Maroondah and Northern opened their gates to us. Because parents drove across the city at seven in the morning, ran the line, worked the BBQ, washed the jumpers, and cheered until they lost their voices.

We are a small and mighty club. This year showed exactly what that means.

Thank you — all of you. Go Eltham! 🖤💛
