The players headed to Power House Junior Rugby Club for a chance to finish on top of the league for 2026. They were not only facing home-ground advantage, but also heavy and windy conditions in the first half.
That didn’t stop them putting on a great defensive effort, with try-saving tackles from Eli, Josh and Chayton. Josh was also doing plenty of work at the breakdown, cleaning out and winning the ball back to give the team opportunities to get their hands on it.
After an early arm wrestle, it was Power House who scored first, but Donovan answered right back with a full-pitch run to score our first try.
The second half was a very different story, as we struggled to get our game up and going. Jonny was getting to the rucks, but the wind continued to play a part, making passing quite difficult. Eli managed a few breakthrough runs in the second half and got over the line himself, then converted his own try. Blake also made some big runs and continued to put pressure on the Power House defence.
All in all, it wasn’t to be on the day, falling short 35–12. A tough day at the office, but plenty of effort, determination and some great individual moments throughout the game. 👊🏉
