Sincere thanks to Max Bush’s family and friends for choosing to celebrate his life at the home of Eltham Rugby and to Tim Adams for hosting the afternoon on Thursday 29 August 2024.
In the Vale sent out last week we had little idea of Max’s full rugby history. Tim has helped by capturing a picture of the wonderful selection of rugby memorabilia set up in Max’s memory. Items on display included his Kiwis Rugby Club jumper, for whom he played prior to joining the Yarra Valley Rugby Club, the forerunner of Eltham RUFC, in the 1970s. On the right is Max’s Yarra Valley rugby jumper, similar to a mounted jumper that hangs in our clubhouse. On the left is a book celebrating 75 years of the Canberra Royals Rugby Union Football Club, a team he played for prior to moving to Melbourne.
It is clear Max loved his rugby and it was appreciated that those sentiments and esteemed knowledge of early club history, were shared last Thursday by Club Life Members Lou Sattler and Murray Wells.
