On the presentation night, I was excited and walked in with pride, knowing I had reached one of the final stages in becoming a state representative. Surrounded by the lads I now call my teammates, we hyped each other up as we received our jerseys one by one.
When the Number 6 — Blindside Flanker jersey and my name was called in the starting XV, it took me by surprise. I had been the underdog throughout the process. As I walked up to accept my jersey, I felt proud not only of myself, but of everyone who worked hard and helped me reach this point, including my Mum and Dad, my brother Trent, my coach Russ Hurdle and everyone who supported me along the way.
I would like to sincerely thank my sponsors: Eltham Rugby Club, the Josh Davis Memorial Fund, Holtz Vent Consulting Services, Snap Fitness Eltham and the wider Eltham Rugby community who supported the fundraising efforts. Their generous contributions have made it possible for me to represent Victoria in the Australian Junior Rugby Union National Championship.
I also want to recognise the coaches, past and present, who have mentored and shaped me into the player I am today. I am grateful for each of you.
I am really looking forward to Championship, where over 50 state and territory sides from across the country will compete over six days, from 5–10 July. This tournament brings together Australia’s best young rugby talent, competing for the National Champions title in both XV and 7’s. I am excited and grateful for this opportunity to play my best rugby as an Eltham player.
Thank you
