Match Report: U12s Edge Box Hill in a Nail-Biter

What a game of rugby.

In tough, wet conditions, our U12s went toe-to-toe with Box Hill for the full 60 minutes on Saturday, in a match that had everyone on the sideline holding their breath. Both sides traded tries all morning, and it came right down to the wire before Eltham held on for a nail-biting 45–43 win.

Alex got things underway early, crossing for the first try of the day. Roman was outstanding — scoring his first try of the season and then backing it up with a double, showing the kind of determined tackling and finishing that had the coaches grinning from the sideline. Malachi and Nas both got on the scoresheet too, while Harvey crossed twice to round out a huge day in attack. Orin was clinical off the tee, slotting five conversions to help get the team over the line.

The real story of the day, though, was the scrum. Our forwards packed down in contested scrums for the first time this season — and more than held their own against a strong Box Hill pack. A brilliant effort in tricky, slippery conditions.

Coach Sam summed it up perfectly: a great team effort and a tough slog in the wet, with the players’ scrum work a real standout. Well done to Roman on his milestone try and the double that followed.

Let’s go Eltham! 🖤💛
