Final Score: Eltham/Melton 66 – Northern 7
A warm, late autumn day with a top of 23 degrees provided brilliant conditions for community rugby, and our U16 Eltham/Melton boys made the most of it at our Eltham home ground.
We got off to a flying start with a try in the first five minutes, setting the tone for a match built on discipline and teamwork. From the outset, we stuck to our game plan, maintaining great shape and structure in both attack and defence. The support play across the park was excellent, and our sportsmanship—both among our group and toward the opposition—was a highlight.
By halftime, we had surged to a 33–0 lead. While the scoreboard looked one-sided, it didn’t reflect how strong Northern’s defence was—they made us work hard for every point, and we had to execute with precision and minimal errors, which we did.
Northern came out firing in the first 10 minutes of the second half and applied serious pressure, eventually forcing an error that led to their try. But our boys responded brilliantly, showing exceptional mindset and resilience to wrestle back control and dominate the rest of the game.
We finished with a convincing 66–7 win.

This was one of those games where it’s nearly impossible to pick just three players—anyone could be in the mix!
