The Under 8s headed to Racing Rugby Club on a chilly winter morning for what was meant to be a straightforward match against Casey — but true Eltham spirit turned it into something even better. With Casey short on players, our team happily joined forces with them, creating a fantastic three-way round robin with Racing and Endeavour Hills.
Despite the icy start, the sunshine soon broke through — and so did our players! The team showed great enthusiasm from the opening whistle, putting in some strong, confident tackles and working hard together across both games. Their determination and teamwork saw them spend plenty of time on the try line, with some fantastic attacking play and well-earned tries.
It was wonderful to see every player encouraging one another, showing resilience, sportsmanship and growing confidence each week. The willingness to help another club out by sharing players reflects exactly what junior rugby is all about — respect, inclusion and having fun.
