Eltham vs Racing – Dane Road Reserve
Our Under 11s took to the field with great energy and heart in their Round 1 game against Racing, and it was a strong start to the season!
Coach Sam Trollope shared:
“Eltham’s Under 11s showed a lot of heart in their Round 1 game against Racing. The first half was one of the best halves the group has ever played as a team. The forwards were contesting and winning penalties at the ruck, every single forward was involved and contributing to the performance. Racing were pushed back and the contest was very even with Josh, Artie, and Fraser making themselves known.
The backs were also showing their new emphasis on staying strong in their positions, relying on their teammate next to them and moving up in a single line of defense. The tackling across the team showed how hard they have all been working on that the last three weeks. Special mentions in the tackling go to Uriah, Izac, and Orin.
A well-deserved try was awarded to Louis, who has now played two very good games for Eltham. The team also had first-time players Kade and Blake, who adapted well to the new sport and are both very promising players.
The second half got away from us, but the improvement from the grading game played two weeks earlier was exceptional.”
