Eltham Rugby regrets to forward the news that Alan Soutar passed away peacefully at home on Saturday 14 September.
Alan joined the Eltham Rugby project enthusiastically (according to close friend and Foundation Life Member Gordon Harrop) to help with junior rugby development when he retired from first team rugby at Harlequins. Somehow Alan ended up looking after many of the club’s assets and was also coerced into to playing Masters Rugby for Eltham.
The effort to develop junior rugby at Eltham led to Gordon’s son Graham and Alan’s son Neil both representing Victoria and helped Eltham to win the club’s first junior trophies in 1986 and 1987
The Eltham Rugby Community extend sincere condolences to Alan’s wife Anne, their children Neil, Fiona and Iain, and their grandchildren Jessica and Alexis.
