24 years at Eltham Rugby. 18 of them on the committee. 13 as President.
Tim Adams is stepping down from the ERUFC committee and from the presidency at this year's AGM.
Tim isn't going anywhere. You'll still see him at Bridge Street. But we're not letting this moment pass without saying thank you properly.
Tim joined Eltham Rugby in 2002 as a parent volunteer with two young sons — and he was helping out for six years before he ever took a committee seat. Since then he's been a team manager, Junior Coordinator, Vice President and our longest-serving President. He's marked grounds, run the bar, sorted the kit, grown the Christmas tree fundraiser into a Nillumbik tradition, steered the club through COVID, and quietly talked a lot of us into volunteering along the way.
24 years at the club. 18 years on the committee. 13 as President. There aren't many people in Victorian rugby who can say that.

We’re putting together a gift to thank Tim for 18 years on the committee — and 24 years at the club. If you’d like to contribute, you can do it here. There’s no expected amount — $5 or $50, it all goes into the same thank you.
We know Tim wouldn’t want a fuss made. We’re making one anyway, because after 24 years he’s earned it.

What a fantastic achievement, I remember the early days when we worked together with yours and my kids with great fondness. You have achieved great things for the club and clubs like Eltham only survive and grow with the many hours and efforts people like yourself contribute. However, I don’t think many can lay claim to the huge effort you have contributed.

Tim… You put in a hell of shift with the club. I have so many great memories from Eltham and I always appreciated your steady hand and level head when issues arose in the club. What I loved most, though, was when you would support the B-grade coaches and/or run touch, etc. Hearing you from the touch line trying to get a bunch of old grizzled men to stop cheating against uni sides was hilarious. Thanks for the amazing club you that you stewarded for so many years. It is people like yourself that make rugby such a beautiful game.

From the moment our family first walked into Eltham Rugby Club more than 15 years ago, Tim welcomed us with genuine warmth—and that has never changed. His generosity, commitment and belief in people have helped make the Club the special place it is today.
When Russ put his hand up to coach both senior and junior teams, Tim was always there with guidance, encouragement and practical help—during the season and well beyond it. His support gave Russ the confidence and opportunity to contribute, and it helped create the rugby home our whole family has embraced.
Our son Ben has proudly worn the red, yellow and black from U6s through to Under 18s. The values and work ethic Tim has brought to the Club have helped shape Ben into a young man who now gives his own time back. Having Eltham Rugby Club in our lives brings our family absolute joy, and without Tim it simply would not be the Club we know and love. Thank you, Tim, for your extraordinary contribution, friendship and the lasting legacy you have created.

It’s John & Catherine Su’a from over the ditch here in New Zealand.
Mate, we’re sorry that we couldn’t be there for your farewell, from the Eltham Rugby Club Presidency and admin team. For us, both you and Sylvy have been there from the very beginning of our granddies starting their perspective rugby journeys. Ava, Eli and Harvey could not have found a better club with the best club leader possible.
A guiding light and rock for the club, your contribution has been outstanding. A constant voice of reason with a diplomatic approach and solution to all and every issue and event, your guiding presence will be sorely missed and hard to replicate. And that’s without mentioning your friendship, respect and just being a downright top bloke.
We are better people for having seen how you managed this small club which punches way, way above its weight. Thank you Tim for all your time, energy and effort.
Hopefully we can catch up for a beer when we next get over to our home – away from home. Cheers matey 👍
