A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT
After inspecting our ground for Saturday’s tournament, we found a number of issues that we think would make playing unsafe. Since last week, sink holes have appeared and the recent drenching has impacted the surface making it unsteady, uneven and unstable. Having taken the upcoming weather and rainfall forecasts into consideration, we don’t think the ground will recover. We can’t even mark the lines at this stage such is the heavy going. We have taken the responsible view that we don’t want player injuries due to the unstable ground conditions and estimate we will need at least four clear days for the ground to dry and recover.
We hope to work with Rugby Victoria and the teams that registered and see if we can find another suitable date early next year to host the tournament. We think as a pre-season event, this will present a great opportunity to help teams prepare for their upcoming season. We are aware that some teams had Super W players in their mix, and that they may have other commitments.
In light of this, could I ask that you nominate 3 dates that might be suitable for you and I will arrange another catch up once all teams have nominated alternative dates.
Thank you for your support and interest, and hopefully we can organise something early in the new year to showcase Women’s and Girl’s rugby.
