Where Are the Girls?

Right now, we’re asking a simple question at Eltham Rugby…

Where are the girls?

We’ve built a fantastic Get Into Rugby program for ages 4–6, full of energy, learning and fun. But like many clubs, we’re seeing fewer girls than we’d love to.

And we want to change that.

BUILDING SOMETHING BETTER

At Eltham, rugby at this age isn’t about big hits or competition. It’s about:

  • Fun and movement
  • Building confidence
  • Safe, non-contact rugby
  • Learning teamwork

It’s a space where kids can run, laugh, make friends and fall in love with the game in a supportive environment.

And it’s absolutely for boys and girls.

REMOVING THE BARRIERS

To help grow girls’ participation, we’re taking action.

We’re sponsoring 4 girls to join Eltham Rugby, covering half of the Get Into Rugby fees to make it easier for families to give rugby a go.

This initiative is proudly supported by the Josh Davis Fund.

Josh was a much-loved member of our club — a junior and senior player who gave so much to Eltham Rugby over many years. Following his passing, his family made a generous donation from his estate, which we have dedicated to creating opportunities for players to access rugby.

Using the fund in this way is something we are incredibly proud of — helping open the door for the next generation of girls to experience the game and become part of our club.

WHY IT MATTERS

Growing girls’ rugby isn’t just about numbers. It’s about:

  • Creating confidence early
  • Building lifelong friendships
  • Giving girls a place in our rugby community
  • Strengthening the future of our club

We’ve already seen how powerful it is when girls step onto the field at Eltham. Now we want more of it.

BE PART OF IT

If you’ve got a daughter, niece, neighbour or friend who might enjoy it, bring them down.

If you know a family who’s been thinking about sport, send them this way.

If you’re part of our community, help us spread the word.

Because this only works if we all get behind it.

Let’s build something special at Eltham.
